Quello che ci propone l’autore con questa storia poco conosciuta è un viaggio tra il sogno e la realtà dentro questi movimenti dell’animo umano. Alcune domande che sembra lo attraversino potrebbero essere le seguenti: Siamo ancora in grado di esercitare la cura? Di essere padri, maestri, guide? Questo è il provocatorio monito che ci lancia Dostoevskij.
La commedia mantiene un’aderenza con la contemporaneità proprio trattando di due uomini qualsiasi che si trovano a combattere con la paura di non essere all’altezza della società, dal giudizio altrui e ancor di più dal loro stesso giudizio nei propri confronti.
Questo feroce e autodistruttivo gioco di sfida con i propri fantasmi prende sul palco, le fattezze di un dialogo del protagonista Aleksej con un grottesco conoscente, Pavel, che risorge dal passato.
